Location & Neighboorhood (Maps)

Ames is a fantastic city to live in! This home is located in a nice central location with easy access to 13th Street for going to/from I-35 and Duff Avenue for the main shopping areas and I-30. The Iowa State University campus is a quick 10 minute drive or the CyRide bus system gets you there in 15 minutes (with no need to find parking). CyRide's #1 route (red) is only 1.5 blocks away and comes by every 20 minutes.

Google Map for Ames

The Bandshell Park neighboorhood has been our favorite place to live in Ames and we think you will enjoy it too. Bandshell Park is the community's venue for outdoor concerts. We have greatly enjoyed working in the garden or entertaining friends on the back patio while listening to the music. It is also a short walk to all of the Main Street attractions, Fareway grocery store, Ames Public Library, and post office.

Information on the "For Sale by Owner" process

We puchased this house directly from the owner and found the process relatively simple (and cost effective). In short, the process is basically the following steps:

  1. Loan Pre-approval
  2. Offer
  3. Acceptance or counteroffer from sellers
  4. Apply for loan on this particular house
  5. Appraisal
  6. Loan approval
  7. Lawyers manage documents (title, deeds, abstract)
  8. Closing with your Lender
